Nintendo fans are all saying the same thing after finding out what games will be released alongside the new Switch 2.
The gaming manufacturer held a special Nintendo Direct presentation earlier this week, during which fans got a look at the brand-new console, the Nintendo Switch 2. With a bigger screen and more horsepower than its predecessor, the Switch 2 will be released on June 5th – and gaming fans couldn’t be happier.
Alongside showcasing the new console – which will cost £395.99 – Nintendo also revealed which games would be available for the console at launch. These are the titles that you can buy on the same day as the console, so you actually have something to play.
It was good news for fans of Mario Kart, as a brand-new game, Mario Kart World, was announced as the flagship Nintendo title that will be released alongside the Switch 2. At launch, you’ll also be able to play partner games, including Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, Street Fighter 6, and Fortnite.
And if that wasn’t enough, the announcement also included several games, both Nintendo titles and partnered ones, that will be coming out for the Switch 2 in the future. This included plans for a new Hyrule Warriors game subtitled Age of Imprisonment and a Nintendo-exclusive title from FromSoftware titled The Duskbloods.
Iconic Nintendo characters, including Kirby and Donkey Kong, also got new games announced during the presentation. But all of that good news still wasn’t enough for some Nintendo fans, as they couldn’t help but notice one iconic series was missing from the presentation entirely – Animal Crossing.
The last Animal Crossing game, New Horizons, was released in 2020, three years after the original Nintendo Switch in 2017. But with no details about a new game for the Switch 2 yet, fans are worried they won’t get one at all.
A woman named Eloise shared a video on TikTok in which she said: “Nintendo, is this a joke? Are you having a laugh? No Animal Crossing whatsoever, and you expect me to have a reason to pay 400 Great British f***ing pounds for the new Switch. Not even a Switch 2 version of New Horizons. Are you crazy?”

She then said she would be sticking to her old Switch console until a new Animal Crossing game is announced for the Switch 2.
Commenters on her video were largely in agreement. Others pointed out that no plans were announced for a new Legend of Zelda game. While fans of the franchise will get Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment later this year, the hack-and-slash game is not a main series title.
One person said: “I’m not buying a Switch 2 unless Animal Crossing comes out. Other than that everything I need is on my regular switch!”
Another added: “No Zelda either. I guess there’s Hyrule Warriors, but until there’s a new Zelda, I ain’t buying.”
However, several others pointed out that the last Animal Crossing game was released three years after the Switch console. They said a new game in the franchise would likely follow the same pattern, as it would help to drive sales of the console later on.
One person noted: “Animal Crossing is their second best-selling switch game; it was pretty clearly not a launch game. They are going to wait so they can sell more consoles later on and do a special edition one.”
Another added: “Animal Crossing has never been a launch title, and it’s excellent news that it isn’t because launch titles don’t get special edition consoles! Hang tight and we’ll get a cute Animal Crossing-themed console.”
The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th, with preorders starting on Tuesday (April 8th).
