England colours will be emblazoned across the city as the Lionesses compete in the UEFA Women’s Euro final.
The illuminations will begin at dusk on Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27.

Keel Square will host a live screening of the final match at the Expo Pavilion Screen on Sunday, July 27.
This gives both residents and visitors a chance to watch the game for free in the heart of the city.
Seating will be available from 3pm, ahead of the 5pm kick-off.
Deputy Leader of Sunderland City Council, Councillor Kelly Chequer, who raised the Lionesses’ flag at City Hall earlier in the month, said: “This is a great opportunity for everyone to get together and show their support for the Lionesses.
“It’s been a roller coaster of results, especially with that nail-biting finish against Italy in the semi-final, and we’ve all got our fingers crossed for Sunday.
“Keel Square is a family-friendly space for residents to share, enjoy, and support the Lionesses in a welcoming environment.”
The University of Sunderland is also joining in on the festivities, providing free football coaching and football tennis for all ages from 12pm on Sunday.
Supporters attending the live screening are reminded of a few rules.
Alcohol brought from outside the square is prohibited, but attendees can purchase drinks from licensed premises in the area.
The square is a no-go zone for drugs, flares, smoke canisters, and large chairs.
Small folding seats are allowed, but picnic blankets, gazebos, and parasols are not.
Under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Dogs are not permitted, except for registered assistance dogs.
Spectators are asked to be “respectful and considerate,” to help ensure a “safe and positive experience for all.”
Looking to the future, Councillor Chequer added: “We’re only weeks away from Sunderland hosting the opening of the Women’s Rugby World Cup, plus the return of Premier League football.
“It’s a very exciting time for sport in our city.”
