Quakers have already beaten the Stags in an FA Trophy tie back in November in which Will Hatfield scored a late winner, and victory this evening will cement their place in the play-off positions as Buxton are two points and two places behind them.
Quakers start the night in seventh place, three points behind Curzon Ashton, and have only lost once at home in the league this season, against Kidderminster on the opening day.
Manager Steve Watson is looking for another hard-working display from his players, which has been a characteristic of their recent climb into the play-off places, with only one defeat in their last 11 league matches.
“They’re a really good group of lads,” said Watson, whose side played out a goalless draw with Curzon Ashton at the weekend. “You can see by the number of games that we’ve won, and the number of clean sheets that we’ve kept, how hard the lads work.

“We’ve got some tired legs after Saturday’s game, when the lads dug deep. However, we’ve got some fresh bodies to come in, such as Cameron Salkeld, Matty Cornish and Jack Lambert.”
Defender Toby Lees returns to the fold tonight after a one-match ban, but another defender, Scott Barrow, is doubtful because of the facial injury he received in an alleged elbowing incident on Saturday.
Attacking midfielders Caden Kelly and Lambert play the final games of their current loans from Sunderland and Kidderminster respectively.
Buxton beat Quakers in the reverse league game at the start of the season 2-0, and will head to Blackwell Meadows in a buoyant mood after winning 4-1 at Marine at the weekend, a result that represented a first win in three matches.
Their assistant manager is former Darlington player Ricky Ravenhill, while they include former Darlington players Liam Ravenhill, Tom Elliott and Kieran Burton in their playing squad.
Spennymoor Town are also in action this evening, with Graeme Lee taking his side to Southport.
Moors crashed to a 4-1 defeat at Brackley at the weekend, and will be looking to bounce back to get their promotion hopes back on track as they have slipped eight points behind Darlington, who currently occupy the final play-off spot.
Scarborough Athletic are currently a place below Spennymoor in the table, and they host Chorley tonight.
