Boro left-back Neto Borges headed for the away end at full-time at Ashton Gate on Friday night and looked devastated as he stood alone directly in front of the travelling fans.
He was consoled by Michael Carrick, who put a supportive hand on the shoulder of Brazilian before the head coach gestured to the fans that he takes full responsibility for Boro’s slump.
The 2-1 defeat at Bristol City means Boro have now lost five successive Championship games and they could drop into the bottom half of the Championship today.
