Injuries have so far limited the striker to just five Championship starts for the Lions, who have changed managers in recent weeks with Alex Neil replacing Neil Harris.
But despite those setbacks for Coburn and the dugout swap, Millwall are keen to make the striker’s stay at The Den a permanent one.
Boro aren’t actively looking to sell Coburn this month but there’s confidence at the Millwall end that a deal can be agreed. Boro’s valuation of Coburn is not known at this stage.

Millwall’s former boss Harris identified Coburn as a leading target in the summer and the Lions were keen on a permanent deal at that stage but had to settle for a loan. The 22-year-old has scored two goals in seven appearances and, although he remains injured with a broken metatarsal, features prominently in the future plans of new manager Neil.
There was a spell at the start of last season when Coburn was ahead of Emmanuel Latte Lath in the Boro striker pecking order, but his campaign was ended prematurely by injuries. Tommy Conway has since arrived to bolster the forward line, and although Latte Lath’s future remains unclear, if Boro’s top scorer moves on this month he will be replaced.
