Bishop Auckland FC’s proposal included a hospitality unit at the southwestern end of the ground, featuring catering facilities and an open viewing gantry.
Submitted by club representative Mr Steve Coulthard, the application was given the green light on February 20, 2025.
The project, managed by MD2 Consulting Ltd and represented by Mr Glenn McGill, is positioned within Heritage Park and is set to offer new amenities for fans.
A two-level container structure will replace existing gazebos and picnic benches.
The ground floor will host catering and hospitality services, while the upper deck will provide an open-viewing gantry with steel-framed windows and doors.
Development of the fanzone must start within three years from the decision date and must adhere strictly to the approved plans.
The project is exempt from Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) requirements.
However, should any contamination be discovered during construction, authorities must be notified immediately.
Construction working hours have been set from Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 2pm.
No noisy work is allowed on Sundays and bank holidays.

The design and visual impact of the new development was deemed “functional but acceptable” in the context of the football ground, with no concerns raised about its impact on neighbours due to the site’s commercial and industrial surroundings.
The development will not affect the existing 119 parking spaces.
No objections were raised during public consultation, and Sport England, highways engineers, and environmental health officials also gave their approval.
