Diablo 4 fans are counting down to the release of the new season, which is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Titled Sins of the Horadrim, Diablo 4 Season 9 has a July 1 release date and a 6pm BST UK launch time. That’s 10am PT for fans living in the US. It’s worth remembering that the Diablo 4 season launches on the same day the game joins the PS Plus Essentials line-up for July, which should result in a player boost.
The new season launches alongside a big new update, which includes various gameplay tweaks, balance changes and bug fixes. You’ll need to download and install the latest update before being able to experience the seasonal content.
Needless to say, Sins of the Horadrim also adds a boatload of new rewards and items for fans to unlock with the Battle Pass.
As you can see from the pictures below, this includes a free reward track containing 200 Platinum, a horse mount, mount armour, three weapons, and a Town Portal.
If you purchase the Battle Pass, then the new Reliquary system means you can choose your rewards from different categories.
The Armour Reliquary adds a full armour set separated by class, as well as a premium Town Portal and a weapon.
The Beast category, on the other hand, adds a loyal pet, two majestic mounts and mount armours, a weapon, and a mount trophy. Speaking of Beasts, it’s also worth noting that players who complete the Chapter 6 Seasonal Journey will receive a new hound named Dante. This particular pet will accompany your character and collect gold.
Finally, the Weapon Reliquary adds various weapon cosmetics inspired by the “mystical legends of the Horadric Order”.
Additional rewards are available for players who purchase Battle Pass bundles.
Outside of cosmetics, the Season of the Horadrim introduces new Nightmare Dungeon update, as well as unique abilities and lots more.
Blizzard explains more: “In Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim, enter hidden Horadric Strongrooms throughout Sanctuary’s Nightmare Dungeons to discover Blood Relics infused with Astaroth’s corruption.
“Call upon the arcane magic of the Horadrim and customise new Horadric Spells to best suit your personalised playstyle.
“Each purified relic weakens Astaroth’s lingering influence — culminating in a brutal new boss encounter that puts your strength to the test.”
The season campaign sees players confront Astaroth, only with a slight twist. As the fight goes on, the beast will split into two bosses.
To help you defeat the monster, players can create custom spells by combining one Catalyst, one Infusion, and up to three Arcanas. These spells can be attached to any ability, leading to a double attack and combo.
Players will also need to explore Nightmare Dungeons containing Horadric Strongrooms. Inside the strongrooms are portals to micro-dungeons containing powerful Relics. The Relics are said to be essential to Astaroth’s destruction.
