Prime Video adds ‘best superhero movie of this decade’ | Films | Entertainment

Prime Video has just added what some are hailing as the ‘best superhero movie’, a film that originally surpassed all fan predictions upon its release.

The Flash has now joined the streaming catalogue of the retail behemoth, allowing fans to revisit one of the most discussed titles in the DC extended universe

This is before James Gunn revitalises the comic book publisher’s cinematic landscape with the forthcoming Superman instalment.

First hitting cinemas in 2023, The Flash was among the last films to be released under the DCEU banner, followed by Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

The film sees Ezra Miller reprising their role as the eponymous Flash, also known as Barry Allen. In a bid to alter his traumatic past, Allen travels back in time, inadvertently creating a world devoid of superheroes.

Miller isn’t the only familiar face returning to the franchise; Michael Keaton reprises his role as Bruce Wayne, or Batman, a character he last portrayed in 1992’s Batman Returns, reports Surrey Live.

Fans can look forward to uncovering other surprise cameos and appearances throughout the film.

According to Rotten Tomatoes, The Flash ranks within the top ten DCEU films out of 17, boasting a score of 63%. However, many fans hold the film in higher regard than its rating suggests, believing it exceeded expectations typically associated with DC movies.

One enthusiast raved: “The highly anticipated Flash movie delivers an electrifying experience that combines jaw-dropping action sequences, mind-bending time travel, and unexpected twists that will leave audiences on the edge of their seats. This thrilling superhero adventure explores the consequences of tampering with time and introduces us to a new reality where the fate of the world hangs in the balance.”

Another fan exclaimed: “A mix between the fun and wonder of Richard Donner’s Superman films and Back to the Future. Director Andy Muchietti showed us with It that he knows how to get the character development and emotional weight needed to get the action to matter. He has made lightning strike again. You get the right balance of laughs, tears, and edge-of-your-seat action. Plus the proper amount of fan service Easter eggs.”

Further bolstering their case for the film as a stand-out offering, they continued: “For comic book fans, this is a perfect live-action adaptation of the classic Flashpoint storyline. It’s not as dark but considering the corner they were backed into by which characters they could use etc, they did a great job of capturing the important parts of the story and translating it to the big screen. Equally, anyone can walk into this film without seeing any other film within the canon or adjacent. It is essentially a self-contained story. Tim Burton Batman fans also get the sequel they deserve.”

One viewer proposed: “This is probably the best DC movie in a while, and definitely the best one in this universe.”

Another concurred: “Best super hero movie of this decade. Love the CGI, action scenes and Batman really played his roles fantastically.”

In a glowing review, another fan declared: “I think besides John Wick this is the best movie of 2023. I loved every second of it and it did not in any way feel two and a half hours long.”

The Flash is streaming on Prime Video.
