Having lost at Leamington at the weekend, Quakers will attempt to produce an immediate response when they take on the table-toppers.
Darlington’s eight-game unbeaten run in the league came to an end at Leamington, with their 2-1 defeat knocking them out of the play-off places, although they’re still just a point below them ahead of tonight’s game.
Quakers have lost just six times in 25 league matches this season, with one of the defeats coming at the hands of Phil Brown’s Kidderminster side, who won at Blackwell Meadows on the opening day of the season.
Watson said: “We know that they are one of the strongest teams in the league, if not the strongest. They’ll be a big test for us, but we’ve stood up well to the so-called better sides this season.
“We go there with no fear, and looking to get back on track again. Consistency is the key in this league. We’ve been really consistent, we’ve lost fewer games than everybody else in this league, and we want to get back to that level.”
Quakers were below their best at the New Windmill Ground on Saturday despite Will Hatfield’s eighth goal of the season.
“I thought we got into some good areas, but our crossing was poor,” said Watson. “I don’t think we missed the first man many times.
“The game reminded me of Needham Market. The weather was worse than Saturday, but we coped with everything comfortably that day and got that odd goal. On Saturday, we gave ourselves a massive uphill task for 70 minutes and Leamington made life difficult for us.
“But I think we’ve made great strides in recent months. It was a setback, but that’s all it is. We now dust ourselves down and prepare for Kidderminster.”
Quakers will definitely be without attacking midfielder Jack Lambert tonight, as he is prevented from playing against his parent club from whom he is on loan, so that could mean Tom Platt starting the game.
Quakers have re-arranged their away game at Alfreton for February 11 and their home match against Chorley for March 25.
