Quakers came from behind to win 2-1 at Croft Park, with Giraud claiming the winner from close range after Matty Kirokiro had cancelled out Dean Briggs’ opener for Blyth.
Giraud has previously spent time with Bishop Auckland, Blyth and Ashington, and Watson is keen to see the striker in action again on Tuesday night.
“We probably need to have a look at him in another game, maybe on Tuesday,” said the Darlington boss. “He was in and out of the game a little bit. He had some good spells, and it’s no coincidence that strikers and forward players get chances if they’re in the right place at the right time, and that’s what he did for his goal.
“I’m pleased for him. We gave him 90 minutes and almost just said to him, ‘Go on then, let’s see what you’re about’. He ran his socks off. He’s raw, and there’s things that technically he probably needs to learn, but he’ll always be able to say he’s made his first-team debut in pre-season and scored.”
Myers-Smith, a Durham-born youngster who was released from Middlesbrough academy after previously captaining the Teessiders’ Under-18s side, played at right-back at the weekend.

Darlington are reasonably well stocked on the right of their back four, but Myers’ Smith’s versatility could yet see him offered a contract.
“He’s done really well for us,” said Watson. “It’s a tough one because we really like him, but we’ve obviously got a couple of right-backs already. He’s come in pre-season, and we know he can play in a number of positions. He’s versatile, so hopefully he’s still around on Tuesday and we might have a look at him elsewhere.”
Watson was pleased with Saturday’s workout, with the warm conditions ensuring a tough physical test.
“It was a really good workout on a really hot day,” he said. “The main thing about pre-season is fitness, then as the pre-season goes on, you want to get better with the ball and make better decisions. Another one of the main things is to get everyone through the game without an injury. That looks like it’s happened.”
