Howe has been diagnosed with pneumonia and is currently receiving treatment in hospital in Newcastle.
The Magpies head coach was forced to sit out Sunday’s home win over Manchester United, having also been unable to oversee training for the second half of last week.
Tindall assumed caretaker charge for the game with Manchester United, with Jones working alongside him, and the pair will remain at the helm when Crystal Palace visit St James’ Park tomorrow night. Newcastle will climb to third position in the Premier League table if they take at least a point against the Eagles.
With Howe’s situation remaining serious, the club have already decided that Tindall and Jones will also remain in charge for the remainder of this week’s training schedule and Saturday’s trip to Villa Park.

Speaking via a statement issued by Newcastle, Howe said: “A huge thank you to everyone connected with Newcastle United and the wider football community for your messages and warm wishes. They have meant a lot to me and my family.
“I also want to pay tribute to our incredible NHS and the hospital staff who have treated me. I’m immensely grateful for the specialist care I’m receiving and, after a period of recovery, I look forward to being back as soon as possible.”
After heading to Villa Park on Easter Saturday, Newcastle then have a blank week before they return to action at home to Ipswich Town on April 26.
Newcastle’s statement said: “Newcastle United can announce that Eddie Howe is recovering in hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia.
