Olusanya has agreed a deal to leave St Mirren to join MLS side Houston Dynamo on a permanent deal for an undisclosed six-figure transfer fee.
The 27-year-old’s contract with the Buddies was due to expire at the end of this season, and the Paisley side were braced for the likelihood of losing him.
With just five games remaining of the current campaign, however, Saints have managed to secure an unexpected transfer fee for the forward, who was playing in England’s non-league ranks until being signed by Middlesbrough in 2021.
Olusanya’s only three senior appearances as a Boro player all came as a substitute in the early weeks of the 2021-22 season.

“Toyosi has deserved his move,” manager Robinson told the St Mirren website. “It’s something that has come out of the blue, but it’s a fantastic opportunity for him.
“He’s conducted himself so well since he’s come to the club and proved what a good player and signing he’s been. He deserves every success going forward.
“For the club to secure a six-figure fee with such a short time remaining on his contract is terrific business. It’s credit to the football club and he leaves with our best wishes.
“He’s a terrific person with a fantastic work ethic and is a great example to anyone coming in from non-league of where you can take yourself. We wish him and his family nothing but continued success.”
