‘Local hero’ Dan Burn spotted helping crashed car on A19


A BMW needed help the Moor Farm roundabout near the A19 by Cramlington and up stepped Big Dan Burn to the rescue. 

The Carabao Cup final hero was spotted lending a hand, and a video that has gone viral shows the 32-year-old from Blyth mucking in behind a car that has had its airbags deployed, stranded by a roundabout.

In the video, a child is heard asking: ‘Mam, is that actually Dan Burn?’

The parent replies: ‘It is aye. Absolute legend.’

(Image: Joeanne Collis) Burn, sporting shorts and a black t-shirt is one of a few who help push the car to a safe place away from the road.

One fan online said that Burn was a ‘local hero’ after the selfless act, while others flocked to share comments underneath the video to praise the gentle Geordie giant.

Stuart Locke said: “Just an ordinary guy helping someone out. Something the car owner will never forget.”

While Clifford Wight simply said: “What a man is our Dan.”

It came 24 hours ahead of Newcastle’s crucial clash against Manchester United at St James’ Park as the club looks to build on some important points gained since the cup final which puts them in the driving seat for European qualification.

Burn has been an important part of the leadership group of the club and donned the captain’s armband in a recent game.

“Big Geordie Legend helping someone,” said Paul Gallant. “Wicked to see, helping a stranded person.”
