Newcastle United cup parade – everything you need to know

This follows the team’s 2-1 victory over Liverpool at Wembley, marking the end of a 70-year major trophy drought. ​

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the major celebrations:

Parade Route and Timings

The parade will commence at St James’ Park with timings to be shared in advance.

The route includes Gallowgate, Percy Street, and the B1318 Great North Road, concluding at the Town Moor- where the players will then take the stage.

Fans are encouraged to line these streets to cheer on the team as they showcase the Carabao Cup. ​

The bus parade will be shown live on a screen to the Town Moor crowds.

Following the parade, a celebration event will take place at the Town Moor from 4pm to 8pm.

Eddie Howe and the players are expected to appear on stage around 6pm.

The event is free, but attendees were required to register by Sunday night, with no guarantees of admission on the day.

It is estimated that more than 100,000 fans will attend the Town Moor party, with every supporter that has registered an interest in the event set to receive a ticket via Email.

It is a standing-only event with no parking facilities, and no alcohol will be permitted.

Food, soft drinks, and merchandise will be available, and club sponsor Sela, a Saudi Arabian events company, will close the celebrations with a “spectacular show.”

To accommodate the parade and celebration, several road closures will be in effect on a rolling basis between 4pm and 6pm, including:​

• Barrack Road (from Stanhope Street to St. James Boulevard)

• Gallowgate

• St James Boulevard (from Westgate Road to Gallowgate)​

• Percy Street​

• Blackett Street​

• New Bridge Street West (westbound, from John Dobson Street to Pilgrim Street)​

• Barras Bridge​

• St. Mary’s Place (from John Dobson Street to Barras Bridge/Percy Street)​

Additional closures for the Town Moor event will include sections of Great North Road, Barras Bridge, and Claremont Road from 12 noon to 9:30pm. ​

Fans should plan their journeys carefully due to pre-planned Metro line closures between South Gosforth and Heworth from Friday, March 29, to Monday, April 1.

Replacement bus services will be in operation, and Monument Metro station will be fully closed during this period.

Supporters are encouraged to allow extra travel time and consider alternative routes.

Safety and Accessibility

Given the expected large crowds, attendees are advised to arrive early and be prepared for standing throughout the event.

The standing-only nature of the Town Moor celebration may pose challenges for older supporters and children.

Additionally, the area is prone to muddy conditions in case of rain, so appropriate footwear is recommended.
