Newcastle United sign teenage duo from Rangers for Under-18s

The 16-year-old duo, who are both Scotland youth internationals, have been handed scholarship deals on Tyneside and will join up with the Newcastle Under-18s squad, which is led by Chris Moore.

Goodbrand, a defender, has risen through the youth ranks at Rangers and, after regularly featuring for the club’s Under-18s side, made his B team debut last season in a 5-0 win over Partick in the Glasgow Cup.

The teenager has captained Scotland at youth level, wearing the armband during the Under-16s’ 2024-25 Victory Shield campaign.

Hutchison, meanwhile, joined Rangers from Hearts in 2024. Having represented Scotland at Under-15s level, he too made his Rangers B team debut last season, scoring two goals against Queen’s Park in a 3-1 win in the Glasgow Cup earlier this year.
