MIDDLESBROUGH (4-2-3-1):
6 Travers: Couldn’t have done anything with James’ goal and made a couple of decent saves to keep Boro in the game
4 Dijksteel: Looked ragged on a number of occasions, both in and out of possession – struggled against Solomon
6 Van den Berg: Did reasonably well at the heart of defence, with Piroe not really a threat for long periods
6 Howson: A decent defensive display, in which he tended to be in the right place to keep tabs on Leeds’ attackers
4 Iling-Junior: Got into some decent attacking positions, but his defensive limitations were badly exposed in the opening stages
6 Morris: Tried to keep Boro on the front foot, but he wasn’t able to find a really telling through ball
7 HACKNEY: Was the player that was forcing Boro forward in the second half – tested Darlow with a decent volley
6 Burgzorg: His direct running threatened to unlock the Leeds defence, but his finishing was poor
4 Iheanacho: Wasted a couple of decent openings with some extremely wayward finishing – needs to add some composure to his game
5 Azaz: Wasn’t really a factor in front of goal and wasted the best chance that came his way when he fired well wide
6 Conway: Displayed plenty of energy as he led the line, but wasn’t able to get behind the Leeds defence
Subs:
5 Whittaker (for Iheancho, 65): Wasn’t really a factor in the closing stages of the game
Forss (for Burgzorg, 80)
Fry (for Morris, 90+1)
(not used): Glover (gk), Giles, McCabe, Woolston, Barlaser, McGree.
LEEDS (4-2-3-1):

Man Of The Match: DANIEL JAMES – Scored Leeds’ winger and caused Boro some real problems down the visitors’ right, particularly in the opening half-hour or so.
