Stockton were charged by the FA this week for fielding an ineligible player in their Northern Premier League Premier Division play-off semi-final victory over Guiseley on Tuesday night.
Captain Adam Nicholson was sent off during last Saturday’s home win over Hyde but played in Tuesday’s semi-final win, with Stockton saying their understanding was that his suspension wasn’t due to start until Saturday, May 3.
Stockton submitted their response to the FA charge ahead of the noon deadline on Thursday, with a hearing now set to take place on Friday afternoon.

As things stand, Stockton are due to play against Worksop in the play-off final on Monday afternoon, with a place in National League North at stake.
But Stockton’s participation in the final is in doubt following this week’s disciplinary matter.
It’s understood it will be down to the League rather than the FA to decide whether Stockton should be allowed to stay in the play-offs.
In a fresh statement on Thursday afternoon, Stockton said: “Following discussions with the FA, our hearing regarding Tuesday night’s game vs Guiseley will take place tomorrow after 2pm.
“We maintain that we acted in line with the rules and will keep supporters updated. Thanks for your continued support.”
On Wednesday, Stockton said: “We are confident that the club has acted correctly and in full compliance with FA notifications and procedures.
“We are engaging with the relevant authorities to ensure the matter is resolved appropriately and promptly.”
Worksop, who booked their place in the final with a victory over Ashton United, said in a statement: “We have been advised by the league that our opponents for the playoff final will not be confirmed until this weekend.
“As soon as our opponents are confirmed we will release ticket information for the game. We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.”
Stockton were backed by a crowd of more than 2,000 at the Map Group UK Stadium on Tuesday night, with their victory secured thanks to a stunning second half strike from Kev Hayes.
The club have enjoyed a remarkable rise over the course of the last decade, winning several promotions.
Michael Dunwell’s side also made it through to the fourth round of the FA Trophy earlier this season, a run which included a memorable home win over former Premier League side Oldham Athletic. They were eventually knocked out on penalties by National League side Rochdale.
