Forss returns to the starting side for the first time in seven matches as a replacement for Delano Burgzorg, who drops down to the substitutes’ bench.
The Finnish forward is expected to play in a wide-attacking role on the right-hand side, which could well mean former Plymouth duo Finn Azaz and Morgan Whittaker remaining in the positions they filled in last weekend’s defeat at Millwall.
That would Azaz lining up on the left-hand side and Whittaker playing in the ‘number ten’ role behind central striker Tommy Conway.
Michael Carrick has left his back four unchanged, which means Dael Fry once again finding himself on the bench.
Boro start the day three points adrift of the play-off positions with four games remaining in the regular Championship season.
