With many Geordies excited at the prospect of an open-top bus parade through the city, the announcement of an event with a stage on the Town Moor has sparked a wave of criticism among supporters.
Having waited 70 years for a domestic trophy, some fans feel an open-top bus parade would have been a more suitable way to celebrate the club’s victory.
The event, taking place next Saturday, March 29, will give supporters the chance to see Eddie Howe and the players with the trophy for the first time since last Sunday’s victory at Wembley.
Fans need to register in advance but Newcastle say registration does not guarantee access.
The event will be set around a large main stage on the Town Moor, next to the Great North Road, and will feature a DJ, live band and ‘Road to Wembley’ highlights. The final will be screened in full on a big screen.

Steve Wombwell, a season ticket holder, expressed his disappointment, saying: “Not having an open top bus feels like a mistake.”
He argued that it would allow more fans to participate in the celebration.
Christine Hardy also voiced her concerns, saying, “Honestly just seems a bit ridiculous.
“Not everyone is going to get tickets.”
The event at the Town Moor, which requires registration, has stirred frustration among fans who worry about accessibility.
Bracken Ling Wilkinson said: “We’ve waited too long for this it needs to be a parade!”
Many feel that the ticketing system will exclude those without memberships, which could lead to a less inclusive atmosphere.
Scott Michael Jordan, who resides in Lincolnshire, mentioned his struggles with securing tickets, saying, “Tickets is going to be a nightmare but I will register tomorrow.”
Concerns about the event’s atmosphere were also raised.
Keith Cowell remarked, “How to kill the cup winning vibe completely, absolute joke making this a ticketed event.”
Other fans have pointed out that an event on the Moor may not be suitable for families and the elderly.
Danielle Charlton noted, “Families with kids won’t want to take their kids to a muddy field with thousands of people and a DJ.”
