Aston Villa v Newcastle United Team News: Magpies unchanged

However, Unai Emery has sprung something of a surprise with his Villa selection as he has dropped in-form forward Marcus Rashford to the substitutes’ bench.

Tindall has stuck with the same side that started both last weekend’s impressive thrashing of Aston Villa and the midweek win over Crystal Palace.

That means Harvey Barnes continuing down the left-hand side despite the return to fitness of Anthony Gordon, who once again finds himself on the bench.

Kieran Trippier continues at right-back for Newcastle, with Tino Livramento once again lining up in the left-back berth.

Emery has opted to start with Ollie Watkins up front for Villa, with Rashford dropping to the bench despite having performed so impressively in the midweek Champions League exit at the hands of Paris St Germain.

Ian Maatsen starts at left-back for Villa instead of Lucas Digne, with Marco Asensio playing in midfield as Jacob Ramsey is named amongst the replacements.

ASTON VILLA (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Mings, Maatsen; Kamara, Tielemans; Asensio, Rogers, McGinn; Watkins.

Subs: Olsen, Disasi, Digne, Garcia, Onana, Barkley, Malen, Rashford, Ramsey.

NEWCASTLE (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento; Guimaraes, Tonali, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Barnes.

Subs: Dubravka, Wilson, Gordon, Targett, Krafth, Osula, Willock, Longstaff, Miley.
