But winger Harvey Barnes thinks that now is the time for the club to get their ‘heads down’ and called for ‘focus’ on a top four finish in the league.
Victory in the Carabao Cup means Newcastle have already qualified for the Europa Conference League, but Barnes has set his sights on a return to UEFA’s top competition.
“There is plenty to play for in the last 10 games. We have had that chat to ourselves,” he said.
“We’ve had this massive high, and we should be enjoying it; we are. But there are 10 games to go.
“I know we have obviously achieved Europe with winning the Carabao Cup but obviously we want to push ourselves as high as we can in the Premier League and the Champions League is obviously our aim this year.”
Barnes was sidelined for all but one minute of Newcastle’s last Champions League campaign with a foot injury and wants to make sure that he – and the club – does not miss out on the competition again.

Newcastle host Brentford on Wednesday and the Bees will be hoping to sting the Magpies and burst the club’s bubble after a momentous day on Saturday.
“We take all the positives from it. Everybody is on a high but hopefully we can use that to the team’s benefit and hopefully take that into the next game against Brentford.
“With 10 games to go, we have to make sure we don’t slip off and get ahead of ourselves. We need to get back to where we were and winning games again.”

For Barnes, seeing the sheer size of the celebration was a moment where he was able to ‘see what we have achieved’.
“Being out here and seeing all the people, you realise what we have achieved. And what it means to the city which is everything,” he said.
“We knew it would mean a lot to the fans on the bus and on the stage, you realise what it means.”
