A deal between the clubs hasn’t yet been agreed but discussions over a £40m move are heading in the right direction, with Newcastle pushing to complete the signing of the 24-year-old in the coming days.
Ramsey has long been admired by Eddie Howe and Villa indicated their willingness to discuss a deal. The sale of Ramsey will aid Villa’s PSR position.

The signing of Ramsey would be another major boost for Newcastle on the back of the confirmed arrival of Malick Thiaw on Tuesday night.
Howe insisted at the weekend that Newcastle’s transfer window could still be a success, despite their struggles this summer, and the Magpies have since made major progress.
Thiaw was a long-term target and Newcastle have been trying to strengthen their defence for the last two years.
Ramsey, meanwhile, has been a key player for Unai Emery’s side and featured 29 times in the Premier League last season.
