Kynren Vikings are supporting the women’s rugby world cup. (Image: NORTH NEWS) The England team kick off the home tournament with a clash against the USA tonight (Friday, August 22) at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light.
Kynren tells the story of 2,000 years of history, myth and legend, taking place on the outskirts of Bishop Auckland, County Durham, every Saturday evening during summer.
These Scandinavian invaders swapped their ‘Game of Thrones’ style for a game of rugby this week, as they played on a seven and a half acre set.

Kynren Vikings are supporting the women’s rugby world cup. (Image: NORTH NEWS) With more than 1,000 volunteers performing alongside 150 animals, the 90-inute outdoor show includes stunts, horsemanship and ‘dazzling’ special effects.
The show is running every Saturday evening until September 13.
Performances begin at sunset and end under starlight.
Tickets are from £30 for adults and £20 for under 18s, with under threes going for free on an adult’s knee.
The women’s World Cup runs from Friday, August 22, to September 27.
