With it, a number of road closures have been announced in order to facilitate the route for the run and make sure runners are safe.
Here is a list of all the road closures in Newcastle and Gateshead ahead of the run:
Gateshead Side:
- Neilson Road Stadium Road Tyne Main Road – 6:00 to 13:00
- Tyne Main Road Green Lane Neilson Road – 7:30 to 13:00 (expect for full access to The Schooner)
- Saltmeadows Road Neilson Road Hawks Road – 7:30 to 13:00
- Deptford Road Saltmeadows Road Southshore Road – 7:30 to 13:00
- South Road Saltmeadows Road Southshore Road – 7:30 to 13:00
- Albany Road Saltmeadows Road Southshore Road – 7:30 to 13:00
- South Shore Road Albany Road Hillgate – 7:30 to 13:00
- Hillgate South Shore Road Bridge Street – 7:30 to 13:00
- Hillgate Quay South Shore Road Extents – 7:30 to 13:00
- Bridge Street Bottle Bank Swing Bridge – 8:30 to 12:30
- Swing Bridge Bridge Street Sandhill – 8:30 to 12:30

Event organisers say the closure times are the latest that roads will reopen and volunteers ‘will endeavour to open the roads asap after the last runner passes and the closure is safe to be lifted by our Traffic Management team.’
A spokesperson for the marathon said: “There will be no parking at Bede Primary School this year and the following car parks are closed by the event: Pipewell Gate, South Shore Road, Baltic Car Park, Close Swing Bridge.”
