Or, perhaps more likely, two places, four teams.
With seven games to play, Coventry in fifth and Sheffield Wednesday in 12th are separated by seven points in the battle for a Championship play-off place.
Sunderland look to be away and gone in fourth, so, barring a most unlikely late collapse, there are two places to fight for.
Who’ll get them? Two of Coventry, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Bristol City looks the most likely outcome.
Those four teams are separated by just two points and there’s then a four-point gap to Watford in ninth.
Boro, on the back of their slump in January and February, are now one of the form teams in the division.
Can they maintain that form between now and May? How will all of the sides in the mix handle the pressure? Will there by any late charges?

Here’s how the run-in looks for all of the play-off hopefuls:
COVENTRY
Fixtures: Burnley (h), Portsmouth (h), Hull (a), West Brom (h), Plymouth (a), Luton (a), Middlesbrough (h)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 14th.
Verdict: After their Sheffield United defeat, the Burnley game this weekend is another tough test. But it’s the games that follow that will be decisive. The Portsmouth and Hull games look like opportunities and how crucial that visit of West Brom could be.
Plymouth and Luton away? The difficulty of those challenges will depend on what the two strugglers have to play for. And then it’s Boro. Will that be a decider?
WEST BROM
Fixtures: Sunderland (h), Bristol City (a), Watford (h), Coventry (a), Derby (h), Cardiff (a), Luton (h)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 13th
Verdict: After losing to Norwich, the next two games against rivals Sunderland and Bristol City could be pivotal. If they don’t go to plan, the Baggies will be playing catch-up. But Coventry aside, their final flurry of games doesn’t look particularly daunting, though again, much will depend on the picture at the bottom and who is fighting for survival.
MIDDLESBROUGH
Fixtures: Blackburn (a), Leeds (h), Millwall (a), Plymouth (h), Sheffield Wednesday (a), Norwich (h), Coventry (a)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 11th
Verdict: Blackburn away looks like a big opportunity for Boro, with Rovers completely out of form on the pitch and dealing with an increasingly disgruntled fanbase. The following two games are challenging, though the pressure will very much be on Leeds. Plymouth and Norwich at home look like must wins.
BRISTOL CITY
Fixtures: Watford (h), West Brom (h), QPR (a), Sunderland (h), Luton (a), Leeds (a), Preston (h)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 10th
Verdict: In terms of current standings, Bristol City face a tougher run-in than the three sides above them. But four of their remaining seven games are at Ashton Gate and only the Championship’s top four have better home records than the Robins.
Preston on the final day looks a kind fixture – but the two that come before don’t.
The others…
WATFORD FIXTURES: Bristol City (a), Hull (h), West Brom (a), Burnley (h), Portsmouth (a), Blackburn (a), Sheffield Wednesday (h)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 11th
NORWICH FIXTURES: Plymouth (a), Sunderland (h), Burnley (a), Portsmouth (h), Millwall (a), Middlesbrough (a), Cardiff (h)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 13th
BLACKBURN FIXTURES: Middlesbrough (h), Sheffield Wednesday (h), Luton (a), Millwall (h), Sunderland (a), Watford (h), Sheffield United (a)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 10th
SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY FIXTURES: Hull (h), Blackburn (a), Oxford (h), Stoke (a), Middlesbrough (h), Portsmouth (h), Watford (a)
Avg position of remaining opponents: 14th
Verdict: Blackburn are surely done having lost four on the bounce. Four of Watford’s remaining seven games are away from home and the Hornets have only won four times on the road all season. Norwich don’t have much room for error at all and still have to travel to Burnley, Millwall and Boro. Sheffield Wednesday’s run-in looks the kindest of the lot but on 52 points, are they just too far back?
