The aim was to find the strongest male and female competitors in the region.

Competitors travelled from around the North East to take part.

Mr Jewitt said: “We wanted to bring all our gym-goers, along with other gym-goers from around the region, together to have a battle to see who is the strongest in their ability categories.

“It was great fun, not just for our winners but for everyone who took part.”

The categories were for men’s and women’s beginners, novices, and intermediates, so people of all abilities were able to compete.

Mr Jewitt said: “We are now gearing up to our next competition, which will determine who can pull the biggest deadlift and push the biggest log or axle.”

This will be called the ‘Summer Push/Pull Showdown’ and will take place on August 2.

Cash prizes will be on offer to the winners.

Around the time the North West Industrial Estate gym held their competition, Netflix film Jackdaw was released.

Myo Muscle Gym is featured in the film and was chosen as a filming location by director Jamie Childs, who is from County Durham.

The film was premiered in Teesside and in Hollywood.

Mr Jewitt said: “Jamie contacted me about filming scenes for Jackdaw in our gym and of course I was delighted to say yes.

“The movie is set in the area and had premieres on Teesside and in Hollywood, so to be part of something on that scale is massive for us.
