Cordero will join Newcastle as a free agent later this summer after turning down the offe of a new deal with Malaga.
The 18-year-old winger was the subject of interest from a number of Europe’s leading clubs, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Porto all understood to have held discussions with his representatives.
However, the highly-rated youngster has opted to move to England instead, taking up Newcastle’s offer of a five-year deal at St James’ Park.
The move should be formally ratified soon, with Cordero having made his final appearance as a Malaga player on Saturday evening.
The youngster was a second-half substitute as Malaga signed off their campaign in La Liga 2 with a 2-2 home draw against Burgos CF.
The result meant that Malaga finished the season in 16th position in the Spanish second tier, having won promotion back to the division in the previous campaign.

After the final whistle at the weekend, Cordero joined his team-mates in a period of applause in front of the Malaga fans, who had previously been critical of the youngster’s decision to leave Spain in order to join Newcastle.
“This isn’t the time to talk about the players,” said Malaga boss Sergio Pellicer. “We have to look at the current situation. It’s not easy. We have to put it all together.
“From the outside, it seems easy, but then it requires certain circumstances to make sense of everything – salary caps and other issues. It’s up to the club to talk about it.”
Cordero is expected to spend time training with Newcastle’s squad when the first-team and Under-21 groups reconvene at Darsley Park for the start of pre-season training earlier this summer.
However, given that he has been signed as a ‘development player’, it is anticipated that Cordero will spend next season away from Tyneside on loan in order to aid his development.
Ajax have been credited with an interest, while the Spanish media has also suggested that Cordero could be loaned back to Malaga for the first half of next season.
