SUNDERLAND (4-2-3-1):
5 Patterson: Made a couple of decent saves in the second half, but might well feel he should have done better with Struijk’s winner
8 HUME: Defended excellently against the dangerous Solomon, making a series of important tackles and blocks
8 Ballard: Justified his selection ahead of Mepham with a whole-hearted and effective defensive display
7 O’Nien: Showed his usual commitment and fight and was a key part of Sunderland’s largely successful rearguard action
7 Cirkin: Defended well throughout, snapping into tackles and not shirking a challenge
7 Neil: Mopped up in front of the back four well for most of the night – frustrated Leeds’ central midfielders
6 Bellingham: Started off brightly, but wasn’t really a factor as Sunderland struggled to keep the ball in the second half
6 Roberts: Put in a shift, but wasn’t really a factor in attack despite forcing Meslier into a second-half save
6 Rigg: Showed plenty of industry and effort, but couldn’t keep hold of the ball in the second half
6 Le Fee: One of his quieter displays since joining Sunderland, although his work-rate was still commendable
7 Isidor: Took his goal superbly and was a real threat on the counter-attack for his side
Subs:
Samed (for Rigg, 75)
Mayenda (for Isidor, 75)
Poveda (for Roberts, 86)
(not used): Moore (gk), Mepham, Hjelde, Browne, Aleksic, Mundle.
Man Of The Match: PASCAL STRUIJK – Came off the bench to turn the game on its head for Leeds.
