Ben Middlemas, Timur Tutierov and Ethan Moore, who all signed their first pro contracts two years ago, have now committed their future to the club by signing extensions.
Tutierov has impressed coaches at the Academy of Light since joining from Ukrainian club Kolos Kovalivka two summers ago.
Although the 20-year-old forward is yet to be handed a first team opportunity, he played 16 times for Graeme Murty’s Under-21s last term, scoring four goals, and he’s a regular for Ukraine’s Under-19s.

Middlemas has come through the age groups with the Black Cats and captained the Under-21s at times last season, making 28 appearances across the campaign.
The midfielder caught Regis Le Bris’ eye at the Academy of Light and was named in the squad as a substitute for seven Championship games last term.

Moore, meanwhile, has suffered some unfortunate injury setbacks and has been sidelined for the last couple of seasons, but has impressed coaches with his desire and resilience, and the Black Cats still have high hopes for the powerful young attacker.
Moore scored eight times for the Under-18s.

“Ben has made excellent progress since stepping into the Under-21s, becoming one of our highest-impact players in key areas of our game. Each of them has unique qualities, and we must continue to provide the right development pathways as they push towards senior football.”
