When immigration enforcement and religious conviction collide

When immigration enforcement and religious conviction collide

Faith communities across Minnesota are facing a hard question: What happens when federal immigration enforcement collides with religious conviction?

A recent protest inside a church has also raised questions about free speech, religious freedom and the role of faith leaders in moments of moral conflict.

Coming up at 9 a.m. on Thursday, MPR News guest host Catharine Richert explores how churches navigate political power, how religious communities are responding to the legal and moral questions raised by federal actions in Minnesota and why immigration has become such a flashpoint for people of faith.

And we want to hear from you, too.

How are your religious beliefs or moral principles shaping your response to immigration enforcement and protesting? Are you feeling tensions around immigration enforcement in your own faith community? How should religious leaders handle moments like this?

Call us during the 9 a.m. hour at 651-227-6000 or 800-242-2828.
