Yarm School’s under-14 netball team won the England Netball National Schools final for the first time.
The tournament was held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, where 18 of the best school teams in the country competed for the title.
Yarm’s under-14 team won six matches to secure second place in their group and a spot in the semi-finals.
The team then won the semi-final against St Albans, advancing to the final against Brighton College.
The final match ended in extra time, with Yarm scoring two crucial goals to secure the victory.
This achievement comes after finishing in third place last year.
Three players who represented the Yarm under-14 team in 2024 were able to return this year, still eligible by age, and experienced lifting the trophy.
Dr Huw Williams, headmaster at Yarm School, said: “This is an incredible achievement for the under-14 girls, and all the coaches and staff involved.
“The entire school community is immensely proud of their success and enjoyed celebrating this historic win for the school.”
Miss Sam Cottrell, games teacher in charge of netball, said: “Their success is a testament to the countless hours of training, their passion for the sport, and their ability to rise to the occasion under pressure.
