GTA 6 leak appears to be a fully playable build in disaster for Rockstar Games | Gaming | Entertainment

Things are going from bad to worse for Rockstar Games with more and more of what appears to be leaked gameplay from GTA 6 landing online as each day goes by. We’ve seen clips of protagonist Jason beating up citizens, hijacking cars, flying planes, and now footage of him speeding through Vice City in a hypercar has found its way onto the internet.

What’s more, it appears that the leaker may have a fully playable build of the game. At the end of one of the clips, the player can be seen writing ‘Leek’ into a wall with bullet spray, potentially indicating that the leaker has their hands on the game right now rather than pre-recorded clips from a Rockstar server.

The leaks appear to be coming from a group or individual – it’s not clear which – dubbed ‘CyberLeek’, which has been uploading new clips each day since Tuesday. While CyberLeek initially claimed that they were releasing the footage in protest of Rockstar abstaining from publishing a physical disc of GTA 6, it now appears that the whole thing could be a massive crypto scam targeting gamers in particular.

CyberLeek is currently listing a crypto coin of the same name on the market, which it’s earning transaction fees from on every purchase. As discovered by a user on the GTA Forums site, it’s estimated that the owner of the coin has earned around $50k so far.

This explains why the group or individual is trickling out new alleged GTA 6 clips gradually, as the longer the coin stays relevant in the public consciousness for, the more money they can make from the transaction fees.

Right now, CyberLeek is encouraging gamers to put money into the coin in return for a vote on which alleged gameplay clip they leak next. It goes without saying, but it’s probably not a good idea to put any money into the coin yourself.

Rockstar has stayed quiet on the supposed leaks so far, although its publisher Take-Two has now filed multiple subpoenas in a federal district court in a bid to find out where these leaked GTA 6 gameplay videos have come from.

Take-Two has requested that both Microsoft and Discord hand over relevant data that could help them track down the group or individual responsible for the leaks, according to Kotaku.

The subpoena reads, “The copyrighted material includes but is not limited to audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements.

“Take-Two, through its counsel of record, has submitted a sworn declaration confirming that the purpose for which the DMCA subpoena is sought is to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers, and that such information will only be used for the purpose of protecting Take-Two’s rights…”

Rockstar Games is set to reveal GTA 6 gameplay officially next Thursday in an ‘Extended Look’ premiering first on Netflix. It will become available for all gamers to view for free on the Rockstar YouTube channel six hours later.
