Every Netflix subscriber has spent an evening aimlessly scrolling through countless titles before eventually giving up and heading to bed without watching a single thing.
To spare you from the dreaded doomscroll, film enthusiast Luke Eccleston has revealed the 10 series he believes every Netflix subscriber should have watched at least once – and the list spans everything from psychological thrillers and horror to true crime and chess.
Posting the recommendations on TikTok, he said: “So you are wasting your Netflix if you haven’t seen these 10 TV series.”
He added that he “highly recommends” every show on the list, encouraging anyone yet to watch one of them to give it a try.
1. Behind Her Eyes
Kicking things off is Behind Her Eyes, the six-part psychological thriller starring Simona Brown, Eve Hewson, Tom Bateman and Robert Aramayo.
The plot centres on single mother Louise, who becomes entangled in a complicated relationship with her psychiatrist boss while forging an unlikely friendship with his enigmatic wife.
The series was created by Steve Lightfoot and adapted from Sarah Pinborough’s novel. It currently holds a 63% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers applauding its performances and unsettling atmosphere, though some took issue with its pacing.
Eccy Reviews, however, called it “so good” and said it was the “best limited series Netflix have ever dropped”.
2. The Haunting of Hill House
For horror enthusiasts, The Haunting of Hill House comes next.
Created and directed by Mike Flanagan, the series charts a family who spent their childhood in an allegedly haunted house before being drawn back together years afterwards following a tragedy.
Carla Gugino, Timothy Hutton, Henry Thomas, Victoria Pedretti and Oliver Jackson-Cohen feature amongst the cast.
The recommendation carries particular weight, with the series achieving a 93% critics’ score and 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Eccy Reviews branded it “absolutely terrifying”.

3. Unbelievable
Unbelievable draws from real events and centres on a teenager who reports being raped before subsequently retracting her statement, while two female detectives probe what truly occurred.
Kaitlyn Dever, Toni Collette and Merritt Wever head the cast, with the series created by Susannah Grant, Ayelet Waldman and Michael Chabon. It has garnered widespread acclaim, boasting an impressive 98% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.
4. You
Following that is You, the sinister thriller featuring Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg, an apparently charming bookshop manager whose romantic pursuits rapidly transform into perilous obsessions.
Created by Greg Berlanti and Sera Gamble, the series spanned five seasons and also featured Victoria Pedretti, Elizabeth Lail and Tati Gabrielle.
The programme holds an 89% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, with its debut season achieving a remarkable 94%.

5. Baby Reindeer
Baby Reindeer emerged as an enormous cultural phenomenon when it arrived on Netflix in 2024.
Penned by and featuring Richard Gadd, the limited series chronicles aspiring comedian Donny after a gesture of compassion towards a fragile woman escalates into an unsettling fixation.
Jessica Gunning and Nava Mau also feature, while Gadd’s acting and scriptwriting garnered widespread acclaim.
It presently maintains a 99% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers characterising it as emotionally intricate and commending its performances.
Eccy Reviews stated anyone who hadn’t yet viewed it should “make sure you go and check it out now”.

6. The Queen’s Gambit
Despite revolving around chess, The Queen’s Gambit became amongst Netflix’s most successful dramas. Anya Taylor-Joy portrays Beth Harmon, an orphaned chess genius who confronts addiction while striving to become amongst the world’s finest players.
Developed by Scott Frank and Allan Scott, the series also features Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Moses Ingram.
It boasts a 96% critics’ rating and 94% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers especially lauding Taylor-Joy’s portrayal. Eccy Reviews confessed they “never thought I’d enjoy something so much about chess”.
7. Beef
Beef commences with an apparently mundane road-rage encounter between two strangers, but their confrontation rapidly intensifies into something far more significant.
The comedy-drama was created by Lee Sung-jin and, in its second season, stars Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan, following Steven Yeun and Ali Wong in the first.
The series has proved another critical triumph, with the first season achieving 98% and the second 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

8. Mindhunter
True-crime enthusiasts are likely to relish Mindhunter, which follows FBI agents as they endeavour to comprehend serial killers by examining their behaviour and psychology.
Created by Joe Penhall, the series stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv, with David Fincher serving as an executive producer and directing several episodes.
It boasts an impressive 97% critics’ score, with Rotten Tomatoes commending its cinematic visuals and detailed character development.
9. Money Heist
Money Heist follows criminal mastermind The Professor as he recruits a team to execute a massive heist at the Royal Mint of Spain. The Spanish thriller was created by Álex Pina and stars Álvaro Morte, Úrsula Corberó, Jaime Lorente and Pedro Alonso.
It holds a 94% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and emerged as one of Netflix’s most recognisable international successes. Eccy Reviews described it as “so intriguing” and “twisted and fantastic”.

10. The Night Agent
Rounding off the list is The Night Agent, an action thriller based on Matthew Quirk’s novel.
It centres on low-ranking FBI agent Peter Sutherland, who operates in the White House basement manning a telephone that rarely rings – until it does one evening, dragging him into a perilous conspiracy.
The series features Gabriel Basso and has now reached three seasons, with the most recent instalment released in 2026.
Eccy Reviews praised the programme as “amazing”, making it the concluding recommendation on the list.
