A Nintendo Direct is officially happening on June 9 with the 50-minute presentation promising to fill out the rest of the year’s release calendar for the Switch 2. Although Star Fox and Splatoon Raiders are set to launch in the next couple of weeks, we don’t know much about what else Nintendo has planned for the rest of 2026, so millions of fans will no doubt be tuning in to see what’s in store.
There are a bunch of Switch 2 games without release dates, others without proper gameplay, and rumours circling about unreleased projects Nintendo may or may not be working on. While the Japanese publisher is keeping quiet until the show starts tomorrow at 2pm BST, here are my predictions for what I think will show up during the Direct.
The Duskbloods

Ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 release date, The Duskbloods was revealed as the next project from FromSoftware, the same developer as Elden Ring and Dark Souls. It’s set to be a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive and will be a grim, co-op adventure that retains the brutally difficult combat that the developer is known for.
Despite getting revealed all the way back in April 2025, we still don’t have a concrete release date for The Duskbloods, nor do we know that much about its gameplay or setting. Over a year into the Switch 2’s lifecycle, now feels like the right time for Nintendo and FromSoftware to talk more about the project, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a big chunk of the Direct dedicated to it.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is pretty much unanimously considered to be the best game of last year, but it was noticeably missing a release on Nintendo’s platform – largely because it was released ahead of the Switch 2’s own launch date.
For a game as highly regarded as Expedition 33, it seems almost a shame for it to not release on Nintendo’s latest hardware, especially since the gameplay lends itself so well to the pick-up and put-down nature of the portable console. Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who would complete an entire new playthrough of the game if it came to the Switch 2.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4

Last month, Activision announced that a Nintendo Switch 2 version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 will be joining the roster alongside the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, it neglected to show any gameplay of the title running on the hardware, nor do we know how well it will perform across each of its three modes of play.
This struck me as strange around the time of the reveal, especially since there was no Nintendo Direct in the calendar at the time. Now that we know one is happening tomorrow, it seems likely that Nintendo is saving a gameplay reveal for its own show rather than somewhere like Summer Game Fest or the Xbox Game Showcase.
It will be interesting to see if the Switch 2 takes advantage of any of Nintendo’s online features, such as GameChat. If it does, it will likely be revealed at tomorrow’s Direct.
A new 3D Mario
This one might be pure hopium on my part, but it really feels like it’s now or never for a brand new 3D Mario game to be announced. Almost a decade on from Super Mario Odyssey, those closest we’ve gotten to a fresh taste of 3D Mario action is the Bowser’s Fury expansion for Super Mario 3D World, and the re-releases of Super Mario Galaxy on Switch 2.
Hopes for this one are dashed slightly since we know the team that worked on Odyssey was the same team that just delivered Donkey Kong Bananza last year. However, there’s still a chance that another team has taken up the mantle of making a new 3D Mario game, and it’s that small chance that I cling to every time Nintendo announces one of these damned Directs.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake

Last up, we have the title that everyone is expecting – and hoping – to be there. For the last several months, rumours have circulated that Nintendo has been secretly working on a remake of what’s widely considered to be the best Zelda ever made, Ocarina of Time.
An industry insider with a track record of accurately predicting Nintendo announcements, NateTheHate, has suggested that Ocarina of Time could be Nintendo’s biggest reveal of tomorrow’s presentation. Given Zelda is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, a remake of Ocarina of Time as a Switch 2 exclusive would be one helluva way to go about it.
What are you hoping to see from the Nintendo Direct on June 9, 2026?
