In one of Joe Rogan’s latest podcast episodes with fellow stand-up comedian Joe DeRosa, the pair got onto films. At which point, Rogan couldn’t hold back his adoration for his second-favourite film director of all time, Robert Eggers. The 43-year-old auteur has only made five films to date, with all of them period-set and showcasing the supernatural through the beliefs of the characters of the time.
Rogan asserted, “I’m a giant Robert Eggers fan, I think he f***ing murdered Nosferatu. I think it was the best vampire movie, by far, of all time… That guy knocks it out of the part A+ every movie… The Northman… f***… it was perfection, A+. He might be my favourite director of all time.” That was before he revealed the only film director in his view to surpass Eggers and it happens to be one of Rogan’s friends and former podcast guests.
Rogan shared: “I think [Eggers] is my favourite director of all time, next to Tarantino. Tarantino’s always going to be No 1. He’s the undeniable peak of the mountain. Scorsese has some killers. But a bunch of those guys have some lemons. This is one of the reasons Tarantino is the GOAT, because he figured out how to have no lemons other than Death Proof.”
