Later this week, Rockstar Games is set to show off an ‘Extended Look’ at Grand Theft Auto 6 with it premiering first on Netflix. The video – or videos, since we don’t know exactly what form the presentation will take – will later go live for free on YouTube six hours later.
If you don’t count the alleged leaks that have spread far and wide on the internet this last week, this will be our first proper look at GTA 6 gameplay. We’re expecting to see a deep dive into both the world of Vice City and its characters, as well as any new gameplay innovations Rockstar might have cooked up for this latest outing.

GTA 6 Extended Look release time on Netflix
The GTA 6 Extended Look presentation will go live first on Netflix at 8pm BST on August 27, 2026. This will mark the start of a six hour exclusivity window where the streaming platform will be the only place fans are able to watch it – unless someone illegally redistributes it, that is.
As such, you’ll need a Netflix subscription to watch the GTA 6 trailer as soon as it becomes available. The cheapest plan in the UK is Standard with Ads, which costs £5.99 per month.
Of course, you cancel after one month if you’re not interested in the rest of what Netflix has to offer. You could also potentially try your luck with the support team by requesting a refund shortly after watching the trailer, but your mileage may vary in this department.
Otherwise, Rockstar will be releasing the GTA 6 Extended Look on both its YouTube channel and website six hours after the trailer goes live on Netflix. That means it’ll be free to view for everyone from 2am BST on August 28, 2026.

How long will the GTA 6 Extended Look be?
Neither Netflix or Rockstar Games has confirmed exactly how long this upcoming showcase will be. However, given that both companies are making a big deal about this being an ‘Extended Look’, we imagine it will be a lot longer than both the two-minute trailers we’ve seen so far.
How long exactly is up for debate, but there are a few rumours going around that seem to indicate the video could be anywhere between 20 and 30 minutes long.
As spotted on Reddit, one savvy internet user decided to ask Netflix’s AI support chatbox how long the GTA 6 premiere will be. It replies with a confident answer of, “The showcase will last approximately 20 minutes.”
Obviously, AI is hardly the most reliable of sources these days, so we’re taking this with a big pinch of salt.
Previous gameplay reveals for Rockstar games like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 have lasted between six and seven minutes, so it’s likely we could see something more akin to those shorter showcases.
That being said, both Netflix and Rockstar are keen to emphasise that this reveal is much more of an event. It wouldn’t surprise me if we saw something much longer for GTA 6, akin to a mini-documentary about the game’s development and what players can expect on November 19, 2026.

What to expect from the GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix
What to expect from the GTA 6 Extended Look premiere is anyone’s guess, but I’d be very surprised if we didn’t finally see some gameplay.
With less than four months to go until GTA 6 launches, players are yet to see any sort of gameplay outside of the in-engine shots shown in the first two trailers. As such, I’d expect Rockstar to finally give players a glimpse at what the mission-by-mission gameplay of its latest open world sandbox will look like.
I also reckon we’ll get a deeper dive into main protagonists Jason and Lucia, explaining their backstory and what their overall goals are across the game’s story.
We might also get a look at some of the game’s side characters, especially since GTA games are known for their extravagant personalities.
Personally, I’d love to see a bit of a behind the scenes section that goes into the making of GTA 6 – especially since this game has taken so long to finally come out after GTA 5 in 2013. This might be wishful thinking though, especially with how secretive the team at Rockstar likes to be about its projects. I doubt it would let gamers see how the sausage gets made in a trailer as high profile as this.
