After countless layoffs and game cancellations, it’s fair to say that things haven’t been rosy for the Xbox brand in recent weeks. Perhaps in a bid to smooth things over, Microsoft-owned video game studio Bethesda has released a statement outlining its plans for the future.
This includes updates on games like Elder Scrolls 6, which is said to be the company’s main focus at the time of writing. Bethesda has also shed light on the heavily-rumoured Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters, officially confirming that the games are in development.
Indeed, it’s very much a case of good news and bad news for fans, as Bethesda hasn’t committed to any clear dates.
“We also know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences,” Bethesda explains.
“While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.”
There were rumours that Fallout 3 Remastered would launch at the end of August.
While that’s still possible, it does seem unlikely given we’re only a month out and Bethesda hasn’t announced a release date.
On the plus side, there were reports that a Fallout New Vegas remaster wouldn’t have been possible, so it’s nice to see Bethesda put that to bed.
If the 2025 Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion remaster is anything to go by, then fans should be in for a treat.
Last year’s remaster featured new and improved visuals, as well as modern quality of life upgrades.
The upgraded visuals include more detailed character models, improved lip synching, real-time lighting and other enhancements.
That’s on top of gameplay tweaks like the addition of a sprint mechanic and new combat animations.
Furthermore, the game comes with the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions, as well as the Fighter’s Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune’s Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard’s Tower, The Orrery, and Horse Armour Pack.
