James O’Keefe and Cam Higby charged with unlawful voting for YouTube videos

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is charging two people with unlawful voting and identity theft during the Minnesota primary election in August.

Conservative influencers James O’Keefe and Cam Higby posted videos on social media, saying they planned to go to Minneapolis polling places to attempt to vote without an ID.

“Alright guys, it’s Election Day in Minneapolis. James O’Keefe and I are going to go around the city to different polling stations and we’re going to see if they’re going to allow us to vote without IDs and then we’re going to see if they are going to allow us to vouch for other people who aren’t even registered to vote,” Higby said in a YouTube video posted in August.

In the video, Higby said he’s not actually going to vote or touch any ballots.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said the pair violated Minnesota law stating that people can’t misrepresent their identities when applying for a ballot or attempting to vote.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
