Call of Duty MW4 beta adds campaign mission and 6 maps | Gaming | Entertainment


Call of Duty fans are getting a major surprise ahead of the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 beta. The latest entry in the long-running shooter franchise arrives on October 23 but players are getting an early look this weekend.

Starting on Friday, August 21, those who have pre-ordered the game or redeemed an early access code will be able to play the early test build on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Now, Activision has revealed what players can expect from the beta in terms of playable game modes. For the first time, gamers will get a chance to beta test a Call of Duty campaign.

Those taking part in the beta will get to try out the Entrenched mission before anyone else. A glimpse of what to expect from the mission has been shown off in a trailer, which includes action in the trenches of a snow-covered setting.

As well as a first hands-on look at the single-player mode, Activision have confirmed that the first weekend of the beta access includes the new Kill Block mode. Players will get to try out 3v3 and 10v10 versions of this newly revealed feature.

A further five maps will be available for multiplayer action. They are:

Players will be able to try out Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Kill Confirmed, Search and Destroy and the yet-to-be revealed Inflation game modes on each map. 6v6 matches are planned for these maps.

The first weekend of the Modern Warfare 4 beta starts on Friday, August 21 and ends on Tuesday, August 25. The second weekend, which is the open beta available to anyone, takes place on Friday, August 28 until Tuesday, September 1 and is also on Nintendo Switch 2.

The new map for Call of Duty: Warzone’s Resugence mode, Zodiac, will be playable, as will two Ground War maps.
