Magnetic keyboards have been on the market for several years now, and they’re getting really, really good. Being able to adjust the actuation point of each key depending on the game you’re playing has quite literally changed the game in both the professional scene, and amongst casual players like myself.
Logitech’s latest addition to its magnetic keyboard line-up is the Pro X2 RAPID, an 80% board that’s intended for tournament use. It’s all built around an OLED screen that seems incredibly useful for actual professionals, but falls mightily short for prosumers.
Thankfully, the rest of the board holds up in ways that make it a dream to both play and type on.
Coming in at £209.99, this is now the most specced-out keyboard that Logitech offers. Every key on this board utilises a custom linear switch that’s armed with a Hall-Effect switch, which can detect exactly how far each key is depressed.
That opens it up to customisation we’re familiar with by now, with players able to tweak the point at which each key actuates individually. It’s great for making movement more responsive, while keeping ability keys harder to press unintentionally.
There’s also Rapid Trigger, which enables keys to be mashed more quickly without having to fully return each key to the top of the stroke. And of course, the controversial SOCD tech is here too which can be enabled with any key pairing you like, although some titles like Counter-Strike 2 will kick you for using it.
On a board this pricey, this is tech that you come to expect, and the great news is that it all works flawlessly on the X2 RAPID.

The key upgrade for this board in particular is that all of these settings can be customised from the board itself using an OLED screen situated on the right. This uses a scroll wheel – which doubles as a volume and mute control – to flick through menus and change settings without ever having to open up G Hub.
This works great in tournament settings where pro players aren’t able to adjust their G Hub settings while at a tournament. With this, they can make quick tweaks on the fly that previously weren’t possible.
However, for your average consumer that’s going to set the X2 RAPID on their desk and never move it, the OLED screen does feel a little useless. When the board is connected to G Hub, the screen doesn’t let you change a single setting with it simply displaying the Logitech G logo.
Its vertical orientation is great for the type of settings it’s intended to adjust, but it renders it pretty much useless for displaying alternate information like media playback information. Logitech clearly knows this as it doesn’t currently provide any way to customise this screen, which is a shame given that many other boards in this category do.

Despite gripes with the OLED screen, it doesn’t take away from the fact that this board feels like an absolute dream to type on. I was astonished at how little key wobble there is with the X2 Rapid, with each keystroke achieving a level of confidence I’ve not felt on a keyboard before.
Those strokes are met with a super satisfying sound that’s not quite full ‘thock’, but definitely feels more creamy than some of the more rattly linear boards I’ve used. I enjoyed every second of both gaming and typing on the X2 Rapid, and never found myself feeling fatigued with it.
Despite being a big black rectangle, it actually looks impressively slick on the desk, too. Logitech has raised the profile of the X2 RAPID’s frame to encompass the bottom of the key stems, making it a little more reminiscent of more retro keyboard designs.
The added benefit of this is that it makes the board far easier to keep clean as I found way less grub finding its way into the cracks between keys. It’s also extremely comfortable to use thanks to two adjustable feet at the back and a chunky rubber wrist-rest that feels delightfully plush.
The Logitech G Hub software is a highlight here too, with customising everything from the actuation settings to the Lightsync RGB effects a breeze. I also appreciated that Logitech has finally added per-game profiles for each peripheral, so everything swaps your settings around as soon as you open up Counter-Strike, Overwatch, or a single-player game.

The Verdict
Logitech has clearly developed the Pro X2 RAPID alongside professional gamers, evidenced by the OLED screen that’s likely a gamechanger for a particular niche, but largely useless for the vast majority of who will actually be buying this product.
That doesn’t take away from the sheer joy this keyboard is to use in both gaming and productivity scenarios. Its linear Hall-Effect keys feel like a dream to type on, and a focus on build quality gives me confidence that this is a board that will stand the test of time.
It’s a pricey buy at north of £200. But if you want the best of the best gear, there are few boards out there that can surpass this one right now.
