As of September 1, the Nintendo Switch 2 is getting a price hike here in the UK from £395.99 to £419.99. The £24 hike might not be quite as high as the numbers the US and EU are set to see, but it’s still set to be a hit for UK families – especially for those eyeing up the console ahead of Christmas.
Thankfully, gamers can still grab the handheld console for the original price before the price hikes come in if they act before September hits. Here’s where you can currently find the best deals on Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in the UK.
Where to find cheapest Nintendo Switch 2 in the UK
Right now, the cheapest place to buy just the Nintendo Switch 2 is at A1 Tech Deals, where the console can be had for £370. Argos and John Lewis come in a close second at £380 if you’re looking for somewhere to get the device on the high street.
If you want a game to get started with, I’d recommend considering the £423.99 deal at Amazon, which gets you a copy of Pokemon Pokopia alongside the new hardware. The game retails for £55 on its own, so you’re actually getting the Switch 2 for around £367.99.
Is the Nintendo Switch 2 worth it?
Over a year on from the initial launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s already had some pretty exciting games launched for it. Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza remain the highlights, but newer titles like Splatoon Raiders and Pokemon Pokopia have also proven hits among owners.
Personally, I’ve found that the Switch 2 is a worthwhile upgrade for those who also owned the original Switch console and have a large existing library. A lot of older titles like Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild look and run much better on the newer hardware.
What’s more, the Nintendo Switch 2 is now much more capable of being the only console in the household thanks to its more powerful hardware. Games like Resident Evil Requiem and Final Fantasy 7 Remake all run admirably in both docked and handheld mode, which is a far cry from the AAA experience on the original console.
There’s also lots to look forward to on the Switch 2 soon. Elden Ring Tarnished Edition is set to launch at the end of August, while a remake of Zelda Ocarina of Time is set to arrive as an exclusive title before 2026 is out.
Of course, everyone’s mileage will vary – but given the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X both start at much higher prices, the Nintendo Switch 2 remains a pretty sweet deal in gaming.
