This Christmas, the first Avengers film in seven years finally hits cinemas. Avengers Doomsday is a direct sequel to Avengers Endgame, with directors The Russo Brothers returning alongside screenwriter Stephen McFeely. The first half of a two-film conclusion to the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, which will be followed by 2027’s Avengers Secret Wars, stars Robert Downey Jr as the villainous Doctor Doom after Iron Man died in Endgame. The reality-clashing Marvel comic book epic will see the Fantastic Four and the X-Men’s universes collide with the MCU’s Earth-616. And now, test screening first reactions have reportedly leaked.
According to reliable scooper MyTimeToShineHello, one test screening saw Avengers Doomsday score higher than Avengers Endgame, which is set to re-release in IMAX and cinemas later this month. The insider shared from another test screening: “The reaction was very positive. One attendee even called it ‘the greatest movie I’ve ever seen.’”
The scooper added a few days later: “Someone who went to the recent test screening and LOVED the movie described Avengers: Doomsday as: ‘If Fant4stic, Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Law Abiding Citizen, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Kingdom Hearts, and The Godfather had a baby, it would be this.’”
Avengers Doomsday hits cinemas on December 18, 2026.
