GTA 6 PS5 controllers revealed as fans raise same big fear | Gaming | Entertainment

New Grand Theft Auto 6-themed controllers are being released for PS5 owners in time for the game’s launch. But fans have all raised the same concern over the new DualSense pads, which were announced by Sony yesterday (Thursday, September 3).

During this month’s State of Play showcase, Sony shared a first look at the two limited edition wireless controllers inspired by GTA 6. Bosses claim that they capture an “unmistakable Vice City energy”, with bright pink details and palm tree designs synonymous with the fictional state of Leonida’s main urban area. The new controllers come in black and white that both feature a shimmering finish to combine the Vice City sunset and the iconic neon lights.

Available the same day as GTA 6 arrives on Thursday, November 19, the two controllers can be pre-ordered next week. Sales open at 10am local time on September 10.

The limited edition DualSense controllers will cost a little more than the regular gamepads, priced at £74.99 ($84.99 USD or €84.99). That’s £10 more than the usual DualSense controllers.

They’ll also only be available “in limited quantities” directly from the PlayStation online store. And the limited stock has gamers fretting over a familiar issue plagues major tech drops.

Fans took to Reddit to raise worries over scalping bots. The most upvoted comments on a thread talking about the new controllers all relate to how fans think they’ll miss out to non-gamers eyeing up an easy way to make extra cash.

Scalpers buy up limited stock of products or tickets and then resell them on for extortionate prices on secondary websites, pocketing huge profits. One Reddit user says that Sony should consider making “2 million” of the new pads.

They wrote: “The most scalped controllers to date. Here’s hoping PlayStation is smart enough to make like 2 million of these.

“They will all be bought. There is no real risk by making more than enough for scalpers to back the f*** off.”

Another user said: “Just gonna sell out in like 10 seconds and be scalped to high hell.” A third added: “Be ready to buy it for $500 on ebay five minutes after it comes out.”

However, a number of users also commented on the designs. One wrote: “Every limited PS5 controller has been super boring.”

Another agreed, saying: “Playstation just cannot make a nice custom controller, I don’t think there is one I’ve ever liked more than just the standard or a coloured version of the standard controller.”
