Nintendo fans hoping for some news – even a scrap of info – on the upcoming Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake may not have to wait much longer. The date of a Nintendo Direct showcase in September has apparently been leaked ahead of the busy festive period.

If the leaks prove accurate, gamers will only have to wait until next week to see what’s next from Nintendo. While updates about Ocarina of Time’s highly anticipated remake has been thin on the ground, it would make sense to drop some big news before we reach the business end of the year. And now a fresh leak hints that a major broadcast is just days away.

Nintendo Direct September 2026 date leaked

The rumour stems from Just Dance publishers Ubisoft responding to a leak of their own. The studio released a statement on Just Dance social media channels after gamers were given a look at an early build of the series’ next title before Ubisoft intended.

After work-in-progress content from Just Dance: Decades of Hits leaked online, a spokesperson confirmed that an official look will drop as soon as Thursday, September 10.

The statement reads: “Hello Dancers. We’ve noticed that certain content related to Just Dance: Decades of Hits, including visuals and gameplay elements, has been circulating online, though it wasn’t meant to be shared just yet.

“In several cases, this content reflects early or work-in-progress stages of development, and doesn’t necessarily represent the final quality, polish, or vision that our teams are putting into this game.

“While we understand this may generate excitement within the community, we believe every player deserves to discover Decades of Hits as it’s truly meant to be experienced: with the full context and care that have gone into its creation. We’re committed to sharing the complete picture with you on September 10, and we sincerely thank you for your patience and continued support in the meantime.”

Why the Just Dance news hints at a Nintendo Direct

To the untrained eye, this may appear as a random date that’ll simply be important to Just Dance fans. But because Ubisoft historically reveals new entries in the series during a Nintendo Direct, many believe this has given away when to expect the next major Nintendo showcase.

Not only that, but new Just Dance games have a habit of being shown off specifically during the September Direct. There’s also been a Nintendo Direct held in September every year since 2016, with only one exception in 2024.

Put this all together with the timing ahead of the Christmas push that often sells games and consoles en masse, and it all begins to make a lot of sense.

The rumoured Direct presentation is widely expected to reveal more about the highly anticipated remake of Ocarina of Time, given the title’s confirmed but vague release window of ‘2026’. But another leak, revealing the alleged release date for a Zelda-themed Nintendo Switch 2 console as November 12, points towards that being the same day Ocarina of Time will launch on the new Nintendo system.

While we await official confirmation from Nintendo, many fans are predicting what else will be included in the broadcast. Some on Reddit expect to see reveals for more Pokemon Pokopia content, while more updates for Nintendo Switch Online’s retro gaming feature are also predicted.
