Gamers are counting down to the release of Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Capcom’s latest action-adventure game is now just hours away from launch.
The first mainline entry in the Onimusha series since 2006, it’ll be available on a range of consoles. Way of the Sword will offer third-person sword fighting in a dark fantasy version of Kyoto, Japan. Following the main character, a samurai called Miyamoto Musashi, it has already been met with rave reviews.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword countdown, release date and time
Onimusha: Way of the Sword releases on Friday, September 4 globally. Unfortunately, some players around the world will be able to get hold of it before others.
Here in the UK, console gamers will have to wait an hour longer than most of our European friends and much longer than those in East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. That’s because Onimusha: Way of the Sword does not have a global launch time on consoles.
Instead, it’ll release at 12am local time for console players. PC players, however, have a different launch time.
In the UK, it’ll be at 5am BST on Friday, September 4. That means 6am CEST for Europe, 12am EDT and 9pm PDT.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword platforms and price
Way of the Sword is the first main entry in the franchise since Dawn of Dreams, which launched on PlayStation 2 in early 2006. But tomorrow, it lands on not just the latest PlayStation console but several others.
If you want to get a last-minute pre-order in, there are several different editions to choose from. Here’s a price breakdown for each edition on every platform:
