Time is ticking down until Battlefield 6 Season 4’s Top Gun collaboration is here with the Hollywood crossover set to arrive on August 18, 2026. Complete with character skins for Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman and Charles Parnell, the crossover event also brings with it two new game modes directly inspired by the adrenaline-fuelled Tom Cruise movie.
What’s more, gamers will be able to try out the event completely free of charge as EA is running a free week of the game start from August 18. Here’s what you need to know about the event start time and how long the free week will run to.
Battlefield x Top Gun release time
The Battlefield x Top Gun event is set to kick off at 12pm BST on August 18, 2026. That’s confirmed via the official EA blog post explaining the event.

As the event is starting at the same time globally, there’s no way to access the new content early.
We’re expecting the Top Gun event assets to be preloadable from four hours ahead of the start time. It might be worth leaving your console or PC on from around 8am BST to ensure you have the latest version of Battlefield 6 installed and ready to go.
Battlefield 6 free trial explained
At the same time as the Top Gun event starts, Battlefield 6 multiplayer will become free to try for all gamers. This will run for exactly seven days until next Tuesday at 12pm BST on August 25, 2026.
During this time, players will be able to log into a select few of the maps and modes that Battlefield 6 has to offer at no charge. That includes the new Top Gun event, as well as the new version of Wake Island.
Unfortunately, only four maps and modes will be available in the free version. Players will need to buy the full game to access the full multiplayer experience, although they can play alongside other gamers who have the full game unlocked.
The good news is that any progress earned in the free trial will carry over to the full game if it’s purchased later. It’s a great way to see whether Battlefield 6 is a game you can see yourself playing regularly.
