Bob Mortimer is set to appear in a new video game, and the first trailer perfectly showcases why his comedic chops are perfect for the role.
As featured during the preshow for Gamescom Opening Night Live, Mortimer will appear in a brand new game from Dlala Studios. That’s the same studio that brought us Disney Illusion Island and the Battletoads reboot.
The game’s description on Steam reads: “These are not the tales you were told. Express yourself through stylized combat in the hand-painted worlds of Murals, a twisted isometric action-adventure where fairytales have gone spectacularly wrong.”
Mortimer will appear as the character ‘Magic Dave’, who runs a potion shop where players can purchase ‘Eeries’. It looks like Magic Dave will be a character players interact with regularly, so it sounds like we’ll be hearing plenty of his voice lines while playing.
The Middlesbrough-born comedian is a long-standing icon in the British comedy scene having appeared in a double-act alongside Vic Reeves. He’s also well known for his BBC show Mortimer and Whitehouse: Gone Fishing.
More recently, Mortimer has earned a huge following for his appearances on comedy ensemble shows including Would I Lie To You? and Last One Laughing.
He’s also an established novelist, having published three original works of fiction and an autobiography.
Murals will launch at some point in 2027, although there’s no concrete release date just yet. It currently has a demo that’s playable on the show floor at Gamescom, and will be available on PC.
