The latest Call of Duty game is now just hours away from full launch. While some gamers have been able to enjoy Modern Warfare 4 for just under a week, the full release is now imminent.
Gamers who pre-ordered the digital version of the game – which is available across PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch 2 – were granted Campaign Early Access, giving them a little extra time to complete Modern Warfare 4’s single player mode. But multiplayer and DMZ modes remain locked until the official global launch date. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the big day.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 countdown to launch and pre-load information
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 officially launches on Friday, October 23. The game will go live at 12am local time.
However, gamers will be relieved to know that if they’ve pre-ordered the game, they don’t have to wait until midnight to download the game. Instead, pre-loading is available and has been since last Wednesday (October 14).
An Activision spokesperson confirmed on the @CODUpdates page on X, formerly Twitter: “During setup, you can choose which content to download, including whether to install Warzone alongside Modern Warfare 4.
“The new version of Warzone will not be available until the launch of Season 1. Selecting Warzone before then will install the current live version of the game.
“On platforms that support automatic downloads, such as PS5, installation may begin without giving you the opportunity to choose which items to install. To review your installation options, disable automatic downloads before pre-installation begins.”
