The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time fans are able to pre-order the real-life Ocarina instrument from the Nintendo Store. The Electric Ocarina of Time lets fans interact with the game world in the upcoming release. You can play tunes from the game into your Switch 2 microphone using the 12 built-in tunes, or play in Free Play modes. It’s worth noting, however, that you don’t actually blow into it like a real Ocarina, but instead by pushing the mouthpiece button and pressing the finger buttons to create tunes.
The must-have Switch 2 accessory is currently available for $49.99 over on the Nintendo Store in the US. Sadly, however, much like the 40th Anniversary themed Zelda console, there’s no word on exactly when UK Zelda fans will be able to pre-order the device and how much it will cost.
If Nintendo follows the same pattern as last week, then the Electric Ocarina could be available for UK customers on the morning of September 15.
An authentic playable Ocarina will also go on sale at some point in the future, and is expected to prove popular.
“Designed for use with the sound recognition feature in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2, the Electric Ocarina of Time lets you interact with the game through music,” reads the official description.
“When you play a song, the Nintendo Switch 2 system picks up the sound and triggers the corresponding in-game action.
“Choose between two distinct play modes. Free Play Mode, to play notes and melodies freely, and Auto-Play Mode, which can play 12 in-game songs with the simple press of a button.”
“A built-in Volume Control Dial allows you to adjust the sound to your preferred level, while the headphone jack lets you connect headphones or an external speaker for a more immersive experience.”
Unlike the recently announced 40th Anniversary Zelda console, the Electric Ocarina will be released alongside the game on November 5.
Needless to say, you’ll need to purchase the game separately if you’re planning to play along.
As for the game itself, the Ocarina of Time remake features new and improved visuals with greater draw distances and lots more detail.
It also contains lots of new quality of life upgrades, including a new dash ability for exploration, as well as a dedicated jump button and a fully controllable camera.
Other new features include being able to hum Ocarina tunes into the mic, or play an actual instrument for increased authenticity.
It also features integration with the Zelda Notes app that launched alongside Switch 2 versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
The app lets players check their accomplishments, test their knowledge of the game, and even create their own ocarina melodies.
