With less than three weeks to go until The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is released on Nintendo Switch 2, a fresh trailer has given fans a closer look at the overhauled art style. A new 30-second teaser showcases the game’s many iconic enemies, including arch-villain Ganondorf.
The big bad of the Zelda series had been previously revealed by Nintendo during the special Nintendo Direct showcase to celebrate the franchise’s 40th Anniversary. But now a number of other bosses and mini-bosses have now been revealed too. The trailer, which was released via Nintendo’s Japanese language YouTube channel in the early hours of today (Friday, October 16), showcases half a dozen major enemies found in the game’s dungeons.
The trailer, which can be watched below, opens with the iconic scene of Ganondorf playing the organ ahead of the major final boss fight in Ocarina of Time. After a glimpse of him walking towards the camera, the trailer cycles through blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments showcasing various villains.
First up is the Iron Knight from the Spirit Temple, while a redesigned Water Temple boss – Morpha – is also featured. Players get a look at the Poes haunting Hyrule Field at night, and there’s a cut-scene from the build-up to entering the Shadow Temple, too.
But the most interesting redesigns belong to Dark Link, the mini-boss of the Water Temple, and Bongo Bongo, the Shadow Temple’s final enemy. Both of these iconic bad guys have been given a fresh look, and the trailer closes with a redesigned Ganon’s Castle.
The new look aas fans delighted. On Reddit, Zelda lovers have expressed their enthusiasm for the fresh art direction.
But many have warned Nintendo of showing “too much” ahead of the game’s launch on Thursday, November 5.
One said: “You can pretty much blame Nintendo for showing way too much.” A second Redditor added: “Probably looks good, but I’m avoiding everything from the last trailer when it introduced the art style.
“I’m super excited already and it’s an instant buy. See you on the other side!”
However, those who have watched the trailer are full of praise. One wrote: “Oh god the amount of loose wrinkly skin on Bongo Bongo is leaving me quite unsettled.”
Another user replied: “I’m really satisfied with this, they’re not holding back on the gross horror elements.” A third added: “The detail everywhere is incredible.
“Everyone freaking out about the bombchu girl and I was amazed by how ornate her wood bar was and the small details throughout the room. But it seems like every single part of the game is like that.
“They are putting incredible detail everywhere like a piece of art, and because the game is “smaller” compared to most modern games it makes sense they can spend their time focused on smaller details.”
